In
2005 there were 110 active diocesan priests
serving in the 160 faith communities in our diocese. By 2013, 37 priests
will reach retirement age (70).
It is hoped
that each year an average of 1 priest will be ordained. Keep in mind
that by 2040, the 3 priests that were less than 40 years
in age in 2005, plus the estimated 1 priest ordained per year since
2005, this would leave an estimated total of 38 active
diocesan priests.
