Rev. Kevin E. McKenna is the past president of the Canon Law Society of America and pastor at St. Cecilia Parish in the town of Irondequoit (a Rochester suburb), New York. He served as the Chancellor of the Rochester Diocese on a part-time basis until June of 2001. Ordained in 1977, Father McKenna received his doctorate degree in canon law from St. Paul University in Ottawa in 1990.

In 1979, Father Walter Cushing became the second pastor of St. Cecilia Church and continued in that position until June of 2000. He knew well the first pastor, Father Bernard Newcomb who had been assistant pastor of young Walter's parish church in Corning, NY. At first it seemed like Walter Cushing was destined for the entertainment field. His mother, he recalled, had a beautiful voice and some professional experience singing in radio. Her only son enjoyed performing, honing some comedy routines, singing and producing shows. Walter however chose to enter the priesthood.

After ordination, Father Cushing was assigned to Holy Cross Church. Several ministries followed, including teacher and chaplain at St. Agnes School; chaplain at the County Penitentiary and a director at the Diocesan Family Bureau before becoming pastor of St. Cecilia Church. In 2000 he retired there as pastor emeritus.

During his pastorship, he recalled times of sadness, as when the school was closed in a plan for Diocesan reorganization. Yet he always returned to the joy of being among the people of his parish. Father says Mass whenever he can "fill in" now for the people he has served so long. Father Walter Cushing remarked that he has "enjoyed God's blessings" in his 50 years as a priest of the Diocese of Rochester.

This Web site started back in February 2001 and John-Paul, a retired engineer, assumed the editing responsibility starting with the August 2003 edition. There are great plans in the works to make St. Cecilia's a vibrant com-munications entity. He is always searching for ways to improve this communications goal.

• Electronics packaging designer for automated communications center, automated aircraft checkout centers, satellite radio receivers, printed wiring and thick film circuits, deep sea sonar transducers, airborne sonar buoys (active and passive), miscellaneous sensor devices, xerographic reproduction machines (light and laser).
• Aerospace vehicle design checker for the Space Shuttle External Tank at Lockheed Martin Manned Space Systems.
• Engineering data control and command media expert at Lockheed Martin Manned Space Systems:
  • Coordinated the development of a real-time on-line engineering data access.
  • Coordinated, published and maintained an "Engineering Requirements and Procedures Manual" and "Drafting Room Manual".
  • Analyzed engineering drawing data; and published a monthly Drawing Quality Report and a quarterly Lessons Learned report.
  • Engineering coordinator for company standard procedures and corporate policies.
