Using your Web site design program (Dreamweaver, FrontPage, GoLive, etc.), open the CHILDREN_TEMPLATE_2567.HTM page from within your Web site. Use the information below to change the template and personalize it for your ministry. When the revised page is ready to publish with your ministry's information, use your Web page design program’s “Save As …” feature to save the file. Save it to your Web site on your computer or to the server where your Web site is stored. You will probably want to rename the file something other than CHILDREN_TEMPLATE_2567.htm, but remember not to change the file extension (.htm). Finally, open any of your site’s page(s) on which you want to have a link to the new page. Create links to the new page so your visitors can enjoy your site’s new feature. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * [FrontPage users] To import the CHILDREN_TEMPLATE_2567 folder to your Web site using Microsoft FrontPage, follow these simple steps: 1) Open your church Web site in FrontPage. 2) Using the menu bar, choose: File > Import > Add Folder. 3) Navigate to the location where you extracted all the template files, click on the folder, and then OK the selection. To make sure it looks okay, preview it in a Web browser. We suggest looking at the page in several different browsers (Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc.). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ABOUT THE ADD TO FAVORITES LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This template page has the "Add to Favorites" code snippet already embedded it in. There is one thing that is very important that you update in it. While viewing the HTML code, look near the very top of the page for: //UPDATE THIS WITH THE URL OF YOUR WEB PAGE var url = "http://www.yourkidspageURL.com"; (If your HTML code lines are numbered, you may find this on or near line 16.) Change the Web address listed between the quote marks to the Web address of the page you are creating with this template. For example, the line may read: var url = "http://www.firstanychurch.com/kidszone"; If you don't wish to include the "Add to Favorites" code snippet in your template, you can simply delete the text in the pink bar at the bottom of the template page that says "Add this page to your list of favorites!" You can do this using your WYSIWYG Web page editor. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ABOUT THE FORMATTING OF THE PAGE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The page consists of 6 main sections in 5 tables and 3 layers. In the HTML code, each table is marked with a comment above its start and below its end. For example: These notes make it easy for you to find and then remove or replace whole sections of the Web page for your specific situation. TABLE 1 - This table contains all the header info — church name, Scripture reference and top bar links. TABLE 2 - This table contains the photos of the children in the center and the "Kids Zone Activities" heading. TABLE 3 - This table contains the three “Kids Zone Activities” links. You can replace any of the images and links, or you can use what is provided in the template with just a little customization. Inside Table 3 are 3 additional tables that can be changed, removed or relocated: TABLE 3-A - This table contains a link to a coloring page. The coloring pages are a separate download from www.ChurchWebAdviser.com. Download and plug the coloring pages into your site, and then change the links in this table to link to one of the coloring pages. TABLE 3-B - This table contains the Kids Zone e-mail list link. Change the e-mail address hyperlink for both the image and the “click here” link so they go to the person who will manage and send the regular kids e-mail messages. TABLE 3-C - This contains the Veggie Tales image and link. You have permission from Big Idea Productions to link to their home page (http://www.bigideafun.com), as we've done in the template. Big Idea Productions does NOT want you to link directly to games inside their site. TABLE 4 - This table contains placeholder text for your family and children's ministry event information. Change the text and links to suit your needs. TABLE 5 - This table contains the "Add this page to your list of favorites!" link and the church name and address information. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ABOUT THE IMAGES IN THIS TEMPLATE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * You are free to use any of the images in this template.
