Weekly Thought

Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them.

—Richard Evans

Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression.

—Haim Ginott

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.

—James Dent

A life without love is like a year without summer.

In the stillness, you will find your true being. In the silence you will hear the breathing of your soul.

Pastoral welcome message

Rev. William Leone

Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting the St. Cecilia web site. The community here is most welcoming and hospitable. There are many programs which strive to meet the religious, educational and social needs of all who come here. From humble beginnings over fifty years ago, St. Cecilia has grown into one of the most vibrant parishes in the Diocese of Rochester. ...

Crusade for Priests / Vocations

In 2005 there were 110 active diocesan priests serving in the 160 faith communities in our diocese. By 2013, 37 priests will reach retirement age (70).

It is hoped that each year an average of 1 priest will be ordained. Keep in mind that by 2040, the 3 priests that were less than 40 years in age in 2005, plus the estimated 1 priest ordained per year since 2005, this would leave an estimated total of 38 active diocesan priests.

R.C.I.A   -    A Journey of Faith

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.) is a conversion process which takes adults through the stages of faith awareness to a full commitment in the Roman Catholic Church.

From the awareness of a stirring of faith and curiosity within one’s heart -

 - through asking questions and seeking answers

 - through hearing the Gospel with faithful reflection and
   prayer

 - through study and discussion about the Catholic
   experience

 - through doubts and hesitations

 - through personal discernment of God’s call

 - through commitment and desire for Truth

 - through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and
   Eucharist

To a steadfast spirituality lived in communion
with Catholics throughout the world.
